Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis & chronic treatment of asthma in adults & ped patients ≥12 mth. Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in patients ≥15 yr. Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients ≥2 yr & perennial allergic rhinitis in patients ≥6 mth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Asthma & seasonal allergic rhinitis ≥15 yr 10 mg once daily, 6-14 yr 5 mg once daily, 2-5 yr 4 mg once daily. EIB Single 10 mg dose at least 2 hr prior to exercise.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not indicated for reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks. Neuropsychiatric events. Systemic eosinophilia sometimes presenting w/ clinical features of vasculitis consistent w/ Churg-Strauss syndrome. Avoid concomitant use w/ aspirin or other NSAIDs in patients w/ aspirin hypersensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Upper resp infection, fever, headache, pharyngitis, cough, abdominal pain, diarrhea, otitis media, flu, rhinorrhea, sinusitis & otitis.
